Coffee farmers in the Sumatran highlands are renowned for their unusually earthly flavored gourmet beans with as much attention given to their harvesting practices as to the ideal growing conditions. Cedar, papaya, and earthly tints lend to a musty and complex taste that does not overpower. A medium-bodied coffee, Golden Sumatran beans retain a low acidity level when the fruit is removed.
